Sales & Marketing Manager, Wildlands


About Wildlands
Wildlands is a unique adventure and accommodation development set within 20 acres of mature woodlands, on the N59 overlooking Ballyquirke Lough in Moycullen, Co. Galway. Wildlands is due to open in 2020 and it will be one of the country’s leading adventure offerings. The development will consist of:

·       One of Ireland's largest aerial, woodland trekking and zip lining courses catering for adults and children. Our Grand Course will stand 14 metres high in the trees and run for over one kilometre, with four circuits / loops of varying levels of difficulty.  There will be 70+ rope, bridge and swing obstacles on this course, with 10 zip lines, including dual-zip lines, together with a state of the art 12-metre high, 3-tier activity tower. The longest zip will be an exhilarating 100 metres into the woods overlooking Ballyquirke Lake.  The lower loop will be suitable for 7+ years;

·       A state-of-the-art 12-metre high, three-tier activity tower which will have plenty of challenges to get the blood pumping, from Tarzan jumps to freefall jumps to climbing walls.  There will be something for everyone - from adrenalin-junkies to those seeking a gentle trek through the treetops;

·       For the 3 to 7 year-old mini Tarzan and Janes, we will have a stand-alone second junior course, with more than 20 obstacles and two zip lines;

·       A themed role play village for children - an imaginative play village stimulating fun, creative play and interaction with dining area for supervising parents;

·       A large indoor activities hub with the following offerings:

o   a climbing arena with multiple climbing walls and climbing props of varying design and difficulty - suitable for all ages;

o   a fully automated crystal-maze style questing arena with 26 unique challenge rooms featuring a mix of mental, skill and physical challenges of varying degrees of difficulty - each team building challenge to be completed within an allocated time with live scoring;

o   an indoor sports hall for indoor soccer, ball sports and athletics;

·       Additional outdoor activities for all ages including archery, tag archery, disk golf, orienteering, field archery, team challenge activities, forest walks, cycling and bush craft;

·       An elevated light-filled yoga and wellness studio overlooking the development;

·       A contemporary 150-seater café open to the public and visitors;

·       the “Wildlands Wagon”, a retro custom-made Volkswagen selling coffee and treats to the public and visitors throughout the development; and

·       luxurious wooden lodges with a birds-eye view of the development, overlooking Ballyquirke Lake.

The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and enthusiastic Sales and Marketing Manager to join Wildlands. This highly motivated individual will run the marketing function for Wildlands.

The Sales & Marketing Manager will be responsible for launching Wildlands across marketing channels, maximising sales potential and achieving revenue budgets across the entire offering.

Report to:
The owners, who have years of management experience in the adventure, hospitality and restaurant industries.

Start Date:
January 2020.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and provide strategic direction in the launch of the Wildlands brand across all online and offline marketing and sales channels (“the Channels”). 
  • Lead and provide strategic direction and support for all aspects of marketing across all Channels and all customer segments including groups, leisure, families, schools, youth groups, university students and events.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to management to ensure optimal marketing effectiveness across the Channels.
  • Develop, implement, manage and monitor:
    • sales and marketing plans; and 
    • sales budgets. 
  • Maximise sales across entire offering on the Channels.
  • Set and achieve revenue targets and ensure each area of the business is achieving revenue targets.
  • Attend and report at management and revenue team meetings. 
  • Work closely with and take on board marketing requirements of the Head of Adventure.
  • Drive national and international awareness of Wildlands on the Channels.
  • Create and foster relationships with national and international sales generating networks, including schools, businesses and tour operators (for example Contiki and other activity tour operators).
  • Create and foster relationships with key political and community figures, industry experts and organizations, including Failte Ireland and the Adventure Travel Trade Association ATTA.
  • Create and foster relationships with local accommodation providers in Galway city and its surrounds, enabling them to market activity packages / add-ons to their existing offerings.
  • Liaise, meet with and follow up with businesses to develop the corporate market for team building day trips.
  • Attend and represent Wildlands at local and national events, exhibitions and trade shows to build profile and brand awareness.
  • Drive an effective digital strategy including an effective search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy and pay per click (PPC) ad management strategy.
  • Develop and manage effective digital marketing campaigns.
  • Drive an effective social media strategy.
  • Manage www.wildlands.ie and its digital partners (including the property management and booking system for adventure and accommodation bookings), ensure the website performance meets revenue goals and drives conversions.
  • Develop marketing collateral and content (including videos) for the Channels.
  • Develop a distinctive identity of the brand and ensure a consistent brand message, is delivered by the entire team.
  • Analyse competitor activity, compete and gain market share.

Key Skills & Experience:
  • Self-motivated individual with a “can do” attitude and a determination to succeed.
  • Previous sales, marketing management and strategic experience.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales, profit and conversion targets.
  • Proven track record in of independently generating new business.
  • Aptitude for numbers. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Project management skills - ability to handle time-sensitive projects and working to deadlines.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in the hospitality industry and / or adventure industry.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in driving a brand launch and brand awareness for a new business.
  • Excellent digital marketing skills with strong PPC and search engine optimisation experience.
  • Excellent Word and Power Point skills and strong knowledge of HTML/JavaScript.
  • Enthusiastic team player with excellent inter-personal skills.
